In June 2019, the Aging and Disability Business Institute convened a meeting of over 40 leaders from the Aging and Disability Networks, including government partners, private philanthropy, national organizations, Area Agencies on Aging and other community-based organizations (CBOs) that are leading the field in health care contracting. At the meeting, we collectively considered two key questions:
- Thinking about where we are now, what are the opportunities and barriers to integrated care and contracting between health care and CBOs?
- What can we collectively do to support CBOs as they enter into and expand upon these partnerships?
The resulting discussion touched on many of the challenges and opportunities the Aging Network is facing. Since the meeting, the Business Institute has been working to distill our robust discussion into pathways forward for stakeholders of all types at the national, state and local levels. A View from the Field: Future Directions for Contracting Between Health Care and Community-Based Organizations provides an overview of key themes that emerged at the meeting and identifies actionable steps to move the field of CBO-health care contracting forward.
