Early in October 2018, the Bipartisan Policy Center released the first of two reports chronicling serious illness care. This report covers evidence-based recommendations on Medicare reimbursement and telehealth services. Services like home-delivered meals, minor home modification and in-home telehealth have proven effective in improving quality of care and lowering costs, but generally aren’t covered by Medicare. This report details how a more comprehensive approach to the financing and delivery of long-term services and supports in Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare fee-for-service are critical to improving quality of care, value, and the needs of the beneficiary.
