Results of a survey published today in a new Health Affairs blog found that more than a third (38.1%) of responding community-based organizations have at least one contract with a health care entity, with an additional 16.5% reporting that they are in the process of pursuing a contract. The most frequently reported contract partners were Medicaid managed care organizations (35%) and hospital/health systems (27.8%). Forty-one percent of responding AAAs reported that they have a contract.

This survey was developed by the Aging and Disability Business Institute to better understand current trends in contracting with health care partners. It was sent to AAAs, Centers for Independent Living, and other CBOs across the country.  As these findings demonstrate, community-based organizations are forming partnerships with health care entities to address social determinants of health in their communities. The Aging and Disability Institute will continue to provide resources and tools to CBOs to enhance their ability to contract with health care partners, advancing integration of health and social supports.
