CMS’s Final Rule on Medicaid Managed Care: A Summary of Major Provisions

This brief, prepared by The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, provides a helpful overview of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) July 2016 final rule on Medicaid managed care. It summarizes major provisions of the rule, and is an invaluable source of information for community-based organizations (CBOs) seeking clarity on how new managed care regulations affect the environment of integrated care in which CBOs and health care entities are collaborating. Specific discussion of managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS), a program that often entails CBO-health care partnerships, begins on page 9 of the brief.
